Kevin Lucas is a nationally renowned percussionist and marimba virtuoso. His honors include placing 2nd in the Nation for solo percussion at the 1997 Music Teacher's National Association collegiate performance competition in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps from 1992-1994, where he helped claim the DCI World Championship for the I & E percussion ensemble competition in 1994. Kevin was also the 1994 Drum Corps Midwest Individuals Keyboard Champion. He is a Three Time Winner of State of Illinois Composition Contests through MTNA (1995, '97, '98). The greatest honor Kevin has received spurred from the formation of his rock ensemble "The Dead Musicians' Society" (DMS).

In 1997, DMS was the opening act for legendary electric bassist Victor Wooten and later in 2000 opened for Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Christopher Cross. They have headlined the prestigious Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, Missouri, and have been a featured ensemble at both the Missouri and Illinois Days of Percussion for the Percussive Arts Society. DMS has released three CDs with DMS, including Carpe Noctem, which was the recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Grant!

In 2004, the band decided a change was needed and the band became "The Kevin Lucas Orchestra" (KLO). With the name change, people would not confuse them with a "Grateful Dead" cover band (which was common in the early days of the group).

In 2005, KLO finished their most epic work yet "Ancient Skies" bringing more vocals and more compact songwriting.

KLO recently finished their newest release "Green and Blue", in 2009. With it's most polished work yet, KLO has achieved national and worldwide success due to it's first two single releases. "I Can Dream" was released to radio stations for a brief 12 week run, topping out at number 12 on the Adult Contemporary charts of New Music Weekly. Not to be outdone, "Green and Blue" was released to an even wider audience worldwide, and is currently number 4 on the AC charts and 30 on the Top 40 charts. This indie band has been competing with the likes of Coldplay, Kid Rock and Natasha Bedingfield - just to name a few - on the charts.
